もう一度、いのちをふきこむということ
一頭ごとに名前のついた森林ノ牧場のジャージー牛たちは外見も性格もみんな違います。
牛たちは自分の名前も覚えて、搾乳の時には名前を呼ばれた順に中に入っていきます。
そんな牛たちも乳生産ができなくなったり仔牛が産めなくなったりすると
生産動物としての役目が終わります。
その時が、その牛の寿命。(生産寿命といいます)
牛はその命を人の都合に合わせてくれているのです。名前のついた森林ノ牧場の牛たちは
スタッフはもちろんお客様からも愛され、思い入れのある牛たちです。
勝手かもしれませんが、その気持ちを形にして残せないものかと思うようになり、
牛の命のその後を追いかけてみました。

家畜商さんが牛を運び、皮屋さんがお肉と皮を分けて、なめし屋さんが皮から「革」に加工し、
革職人さんの手によってバッグや財布になり、私たちの手に渡ります。
そして、革製品は使い続けるほどに馴染み、その人の「革」になっていくのです。
職人さんたちの技術によって皮から革になり、使い続けるほどに愛着が湧いていく革製品となる
までの工程は、革に牛や人の想いの「魂」を吹き込んでいるようにも見えました。
あの子の命やそれを想う人たちの気持ちを繋いでいきたい、
という想いを込めて「あの子の革」を使った製品を作りました。
“あの子”が皆さんのお気に入りの革になっていきますように。
